About Us
The Journey Behind Last Chance Safaris
At Last Chance Safaris, our story is one of passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to Africa's wildlife and its unique ecosystems.
Founded by conservationists who traded the comfort of the armchair for the call of the wild, we are driven by a shared belief that luxury travel can and should play a critical role in preserving the natural world.
Our mission is to offer more than just extraordinary safari experiences; we aim to create meaningful connections between our guests and the fragile beauty of Africa, ensuring that both can thrive for generations to come.

Our Story
The vision behind Last Chance Safaris was born from a deep concern for the future of Africa’s wildlife and the relentless challenges faced by those on the frontlines of conservation. Grant and Phil, our founders, recognise that true conservation is often unsung and underfunded.
With over 20 years of experience in tour guiding and game ranging, we are dedicated to providing unforgettable safari experiences. Our passion for wildlife drives our commitment to conservation efforts, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the beauty of nature. We offer exclusive tours that combine comfort and excitement, allowing you to immerse yourself in the wild.
These unsung heroes, who work tirelessly to protect endangered species and their habitats, inspired the creation of a safari experience that marries adventure with purpose. Our safaris offer more than breath-taking encounters; they offer a chance to make a lasting difference. Join us for extraordinary journey and discover the magic of the African wilderness.
We are also represented on SafariBookings.
Meet The Experts

Phil – The Adventurous Conservationist
Phil’s journey to Africa began with a childhood passion for birds and wildlife in his native Australia. A medical professional with a specialisation in resuscitation and life support, Phil’s love for nature never waned. His travels eventually brought him to Africa, where he and his wife Jen were captivated by the continent’s wild beauty.
After years of running canoe safaris in Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools and managing a mobile safari company in Botswana, Phil has cemented his legacy as a conservationist and safari leader. Today, he heads up Last Chance Safaris' Adventure Expeditions, bringing his wealth of experience and deep connection to Africa’s wilderness to every journey.

Grant – The Knowledgeable
Guide
With roots tracing back to the French Huguenots’ arrival in Africa, Grant’s connection to the continent is profound. His youth spent in the wilds of Zimbabwe and Namibia naturally led him to a career in wildlife, supported by a post-graduate degree in Zoology and ranger training at the prestigious Mala Mala Game Reserve.
Over three decades, Grant’s career in eco-tourism evolved from ranger to Safari Company CEO, yet his heart always remained with the land and its creatures. As a professional wildlife guide, Grant’s scientific expertise and engaging storytelling make him an exceptional companion on safari, where he shares his deep knowledge and passion for Africa’s ecosystems.
